'Marginal Gains': Improving police engagement with young people affected by CSE and other forms of CSA.

We are happy to announce that the next Police Research Forum entitled Improving police engagement with young people affected by CSE and other forms of CSA will be held on Tuesday 22nd November in Birmingham. 

The focus will be on young people’s engagement in the criminal justice process and will feature some of the work of the Experts by Experience groups.

One of the top themes identified by the initial strategic needs analysis undertaken by staff from the CSE & Policing Research Hub was the issue of effectively engaging with young people affected by CSE and other forms of CSA. As a result we have established our ‘Experts by Experience’ (EBE) group. These are young people from across the country who participated with us in a number of activities since the Spring to look at how the police can improve their safeguarding responses to young people. This work will culminate in a residential in the Lake District this October half term, where some of the EBE will come together with officers from across the country to take this work forward and create solutions to some of the previously identified challenges. The results of this experience will be shared at the research forum.
